
Boroogold LLC joined the Billion trees national movement initiated by President U.Khurelsukh. The company planted 3000 trees at its mine sites located in Mandal and Bayangol soums of Selenge aimag and Bornuur soum of Tuv aimag on October 14 and 15, 2021. They include a 1.7 km long forest belt with 700 elms and 500 aspens along the gravel road of Ulaanbulag mine.
Boroogold LLC has successfully implemented environmental reclamation, reforestation, tree nursery and biodiversity offset programs and has initiated and been conducting activities such as planting trees, reforestation and tree nursery and plantation since 2007.

As a part of biological reclamation, the company has established tree nurseries four times and grows and plants its own seedlings and saplings. In 2020, over 800 trees were planted including aspen, elm, maple and willow on new areas and as replanting, and were cared and irrigated. This year, within the scope of biodiversity offset program of Ulaanbulag project, 10,000 pine seedlings were planted on 10 ha in an area called Shivert in Nart bagh, Bornuur soum, Tuv aimag, in cooperation with “Toliin garam” LLC.
Since 2018, Bortolgoi reforestation project has been implemented in Bayangol soum of Selenge aimag as a part of biodiversity offset program, and as planned for 2021, 3060 aspens were planted on 5.7 ha of protection zone, and 500 seedlings and saplings of 19 species of trees and bushes were planted with the purpose to establish a collection of rare and unique plants on 0.7 ha including silverberry, Siberian crab apple, bird cherry, birch, pine, lilac, fir, apricot, almond, elder, false spirea, Tatarian honeysuckle, blue honeysuckle, red currant, raspberry, rose, sweet brier, juniper, white peony. Drip irrigation system is installed to water the trees on the project site, and each tree is watered at the rate of 4 l/hour.
Based on its best practices of environmental reclamation and reforestation projects, Boroogold LLC will continue to support and contribute in the “Billion Trees” national movement in the future.
